Exceptional Antique Crazy Quilt; 1890-1910; signed "D.K.B."; hand-embroidered; 66"x68"

Elaborately hand-embroidered late 19th Century Crazy Quilt, signed "D.K.B." There are more than 100 different embroidery stitches and motifs of a soldier holding a musket as well as dogs, children with toys, many flowers, butterflies, anchors and much more. The fabrics are also wonderful and include old velvets, satins and silks.

The back of the quilt is silk, which has shattered in quite a few places due to the way silk was manufactured in the late 1800s (using metals to increase the weight and hence the price, which leads to shattering with age).

It is in excellent antique condition with several shattered silks on the front and the shattered silk back as described above.

It measures 66 by 68 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It is shown on a queen-size bed.
