Hand-quilted late 19th Century Doll Quilt using a beautiful combination of antique fabrics, including Madder Browns. This was likely a young girl's first quilting effort, but the hand-quilting is nonetheless even and straight and traverses all of the patchwork.
The back is made from two fabrics - a white cotton with a red geometric pattern and a Madder brown floral cotton. See photos. The binding is the Madder brown cotton and it has been meticulously hand-stitched to both sides. There is no batting.
This tiny quilt is in excellent antique condition, with some fabric loss/shattering of fabrics and a small seam separation along the border. There is some toning/tan spots on the back white fabric (see photos).
It is approximately 14 inches by 20 inches. From a smoke-free and pet-free home.
