This amazing Starburst Quilt, circa 1870s, is made of unique elongated diamonds that meet dramatically in a center medallion and cascade out in waves of color. The hand-quilting is in very tiny stitches in outlines of the more than 3,000 diamonds.
The back is a red and white floral chintz, while the binding is impossibly thin light pink cotton that has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is unsized and very lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent, likely unwashed antique condition.
It measures 84 inches by 88 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. . Shown on a queen-size bed.
