This Spool Quilt, circa 1930s, is still bright and lovely with its mix of yellow, blue, pink and other pastel calicos. The hand-quilting is in a repeating shell pattern which has been finely stitched.
The back is white cotton while the binding is a blue and red geometric pattern that has been machine-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is unsized and lightweight.
The quilt is in poor or cutter condition. Though the back is completely intact and much of the front is intact, the front has extensive fabric loss especially in the white fabrics and a frayed border. See photos.
The quilt is clean and soft and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It measures 75 inches by 78 inches. Shown on a queen-size bed.
