This amazing old quilt has individual Georgetown Circle blocks (a very difficult pattern) that are tiny -- just 6-inches square -- which would have made the piecing and quilting even more challenging. It is an authentic scrappy 1930s quilt with its Depression-era feedsack fabrics, novelty prints, and shirtings. The tiny-stitched hand-quilting outlines each tiny triangle and square and is in diagonals through the rest of the quilt, including through the four-sided border.
The back is tan cotton homespun-style shirting, while the binding has been formed by turning the front border fabric to the back and hand-stitching. The cotton batting is light-to-medium weight.
The quilt is in excellent condition with minor fading of some of the fabrics.
The quilt measures 66 inches by 76 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Shown on a queen-size bed.
