This oversize, striking Honeycomb Quilt, circa 1990s-2000, is in the hexagon family that includes the better-known Grandmother’s Flower Garden. The Honeycomb quilt pattern has larger gardens - and this particular quilt has many of them as it is an impressive 98” x 112”—large enough for a king or king-plus bed with substantial drop.
The fabrics are bold and even joyful modern, high-quality cottons in turquoise, coral, chartreuse, navy, pinks, and sunny yellows, all framed by peach pathways. Hand-pieced from more than 2,000 individual hexagons, the quilt has been finished with long-arm quilting in waves and curlicues.
The back is a combination of white cotton and charming thread spool print cotton, while green cotton binding has been machine stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The batting is lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent condition with no condition issues found.
