Antique Dated 1892 Signature Quilt Top - Victorian Friendship Album - 68” x 74”

This is a beautiful piece of American folk art, a Signature Friendship Quilt Top with signatures and blocks hand-dated 1892 and 1893. The pattern is a modified version of the "Best Friend" design, while the signatures (and dates) are written in Iron Gall ink which over time oxidizes into a sepia or rusty brown color like that seen in the photos.

The fabrics feature "Chintz" style florals and shirting prints with tiny geometric motifs in double pinks and deep madder reds and browns.

The quilt top remains in remarkable vintage condition with vibrant colors and cotton fabrics that are structurally sound. There are small foxing or tan spots consistent with its 140+ year-age, but no shattering or structural issues.
