This is a breathtaking work of art 1930s Lone Star (Star of Bethlehem) quilt that features a striking 8-point Lone Star centered on a soft "Anniversary Pink" background with eight-point stars placed around it. The stars are meticulously hand-pieced using vibrant butter yellows, orchid lavenders, and "Nile Green" calicos. There are also charming 1930s "shirting" prints and tiny floral patterns characteristic of the era. The four-sided border is a black & white geometric print that has been hand-quilted in sweeping feathers.
The back is a black/grey/white tiny floral while the binding is bright red and has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
EXTRAORDINARY QUILTING Besides the beautiful color palette, what sets this quilt apart is the spectacular hand-quilting. The negative space is filled with incredibly fine, dense stitches featuring traditional feather wreaths in the corners and delicate feather plumes throughout the border. This level of detail was typically reserved for "best" quilts or dowry pieces and represents hundreds of hours of hand-work. CONDITION The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with no issues noted. It has been beautifully preserved.
