This charming 1929 quilt top comes with an old note that reads: “Clarence – From Grandma Klopf – 1929”. It has been hand-pieced and hand-embroidered from Depression-era feedsack fabrics along with lightweight plaid and striped wool suiting fabrics, likely repurposed from suits and other garments. The wool is soft and flexible — not heavy coating wool — making this an ideal candidate for finishing if desired. The blocks are all arranged in a striking diamond setting radiating outward from a bold center square.
It has been hand-embroidered in a finely done Feather Chain Stitch. Please note that this is a quilt top only and has no back or batting and needs to be finished.
This quilt top is in excellent antique condition with no condition issues noted.
Details: • Lightweight wool (likely repurposed suiting and garment fabrics) • Entirely hand pieced and hand-embroidered • Visible hand-stitched seam finishes • Original handwritten note attached • Size: 68” x 69”
The quilt top is from a smoke-free, pet-free home and is pictured on a queen-size bed.
