This "Thousand Pyramids" (or Thousand Triangles) piece is a scrappy assembly of fabrics that would have been found in a typical household during the late 1800s, including: • Indigo Discharge Prints: Numerous navy blue triangles with classic white geometric "sprig," star, and dot motifs. • Turkey Reds: Bright, saturated reds that remain remarkably vivid, a staple of the 1880s palette. • Double-Pink/Claret Border: The wide pink border features a delicate "seaweed" or "shrub" motif on a lighter pink ground, typical of the late Victorian era. • Period Shirtings & Mourning Prints: A variety of black-and-white checks, delicate blue-on-white stripes, and "conversational" geometric prints.
Condition: This is a QUILT TOP ONLY. It has been hand-pieced with a running stitch and has not yet been layered with batting or a back and it has no binding and no quilting. The top is in excellent antique condition with minor age-related toning.
