This is a beautifully graphic and visually striking, rarely found Madison Star Quilt pattern dating to the early 20th century (1900-1910s) featuring crisp geometric stars created through alternating blocks of red, blue, and soft cream. This is a wonderful example of early 20th century American quilt-making with excellent handwork throughout.
The hand-quilting is tiny and very fine and is in outlines of the tiny (2-inch) triangles and in cross-hatches through the larger patchwork. The back is cream/off-white cotton as is the binding that has been machine-stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent antique condition with no issues noted.
