This beautiful 1880-1890s quilt is composed of classic Churn Dash blocks set on point, with a wonderful variety of late 19th century chintz, shirtings, plaids, and small-scale prints. The fabrics are softly aged, beautifully blended, and full of character, including early reds, browns, indigos, and delicate neutrals.
* A true late 1800s textile with authentic period fabrics * Beautiful use of chintz and scrap fabrics, each block unique * Striking indigo ground that makes the blocks pop * Perfect for display, layering, or light everyday use * A wonderful addition for collectors or anyone drawn to early American quilts
The hand quilting is in tiny stitches and in a diagonal grid throughout. The back is a lovely period calico in earthy brown and soft blue tones that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.
CONDITION: The quilt is structurally sound, sturdy, and in excellent antique condition with some age-related toning - see photos.
