Vintage 1990s Lady of the Lake Woven Coverlet - Red & White Reversible Faux Quilt Jacquard Textile - 76 x 100

This striking red and white textile reproduces the traditional Lady of the Lake quilt pattern, but it is not a pieced quilt. Dating to approximately the 1990s, it measures 76” x 100” and has the same design on both sides.

This is a woven jacquard coverlet, a double-cloth or matelassé-type textile. The red and white design is created as part of the weave rather than by sewing together individual pieces of fabric. The textured surface gives the appearance of dense quilting, while the intricate Lady of the Lake design—including the numerous tiny red and white triangles—is actually incorporated into the woven structure.

This was a particularly effective way of reproducing the appearance of an antique red-and-white quilt. The design is very detailed, with large alternating red and white triangles surrounded by narrow rows of small half-square triangles. A coordinating geometric three-sided border completes the textile on all four sides.

The deep red fabric has a tiny white dots, ensuring that from a distance it very convincingly resembles a finely pieced and quilted antique textile.

CONDITION: Very good vintage condition overall. There is a very small amount of fraying to a couple of the small triangular areas, shown in the photographs. Otherwise the textile is intact and presents beautifully.
