Wonderful vintage chenille bedspread dating to the 1950s, featuring a classic Western cowboy and bucking bronco.
The center of the spread depicts a cowboy riding a bucking horse, worked in raised chenille embroidery in brown, black, red, yellow and turquoise. Above the rider is a longhorn steer head, while the surrounding design resembles a Western corral or ranch gate with scrolling decorative elements and fence-like borders.
The tan ground has the characteristic textured, rippled surface associated with vintage chenille spreads. The combination of the cowboy imagery, turquoise accents and graphic brown linework gives it a wonderful 1950s Western look.
This would be an excellent piece for a Western, ranch, cowboy, lodge or mid-century bedroom, and it would also display beautifully as a large textile.
CONDITION: Very good vintage condition. The chenille decoration remains colorful, fluffy and visually strong. There is one very small spot (about one-inch long and 1/4 inch wide) near one outer edge where the chenille has worn down/balded in that spot. There are no holes or tears. Please review all photographs closely as they form an important part of the description.
