Beautiful vintage Dresden Plate quilt dating to the 1930s-1940s, featuring 25 colorful Dresden Plate blocks arranged in five rows against a beautiful cornflower blue cotton background.
The Dresden Plates are made from florals, feedsack prints, small geometrics, polka dots, and colorful novelty fabrics in yellow, red, pink, green, navy, and cream. Each plate has individually pieced, rounded petals surrounding a matching blue center.
The quilt has been densely and beautifully hand quilted, with extensive outline and circular quilting surrounding the Dresden Plates and additional geometric quilting in the blue background between the plates.
The back is a cantaloupe or orange sorbet color while the quilt has been knife edge finished and handstitched closed. The cotton batting is thin and very lightweight.
CONDITION: Very good vintage condition. Please examine the photographs as they form an important part of the description.
A note about the blue color: Though the background color looks grayish slate blue in some of the photographs, the background is actually a very nice medium cornflower blue with a soft, clear blue tone.
