This Sixteen Block Quilt, circa 1910-1930s is a lovely example of a quilt pattern that was once considered a "beginner" or "starter" pattern for quilters. If this was a starter quilt, it was a great first effort - the piecing is accurate, the hand-quilting is precise and the stitches are tiny. The quilting is in diagonals through the patchwork and the sashing.

The back is white cotton while the binding is blue cotton that has been machine stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is lightweight.

The quilt is in excellent antique condition with a small tan dot on the binding and one fabric in one block that has shattered (see photos).

It is clean, very soft and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It measures 68 inches by 84 inches. Shown on a queen-size bed.
