This is a spectacular Crazy Quilt, circa 1890s, initialed T.E.C. and H.P. It has more than 100 different embroidery stitches and a central motif of four elaborate fans, along with many, many flowers, spider webs, leaves, a pair of hand-painted birds and much more.
The back is a quilted gray satin while the binding is black satin that has been hand-stitched to both sides.
It is in excellent condition with several shattered silks (silks from this era shatter over time due to silk manufacturers adding metal salts to increase the weight in order to increase the price).
It measures 66 by 79 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It is shown on a queen-size bed.
