This Wholecloth Quilt, circa 1930s, is a coral pink or dusty rose print (not pieced patchwork) that has been hand-quilted. The print consists of many small dots, geometrics and some scattered florals, mimicking the busy look of a pieced quilt. This style of cheater cloth was widely manufactured in the late 1920s through the 1940s. The hand-quilting follows the printed design, which is a classic feature of 1920s-1940s cheater cloth quilts.
The back is white cotton while the binding is light blue cotton that has been machine stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
The quilt is in very good vintage condition with overall fading of the fabric and one small area (about 2 inches square of minor fabric loss on one side near the binding.
The quilt measures 66 by 83 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Pictured on a queen-size bed.
