Antique 1880s Falling Timber Cutter Quilt; Crafting Quilt (66" x 73")

This beautiful antique quilt in a classic Falling Timber pattern is pieced in double-pink calicos and tiny shirting-print whites dating from about 1885 to the 1890s. Entirely hand-stitched and hand-quilted, the quilting runs across the Falling Timber blocks in neat and expertly quilted diagonals.

The back is off-white cotton while the binding has been removed - there is no binding. The cotton batting is very lightweight.

The heart of this quilt is in excellent antique condition - sturdy and intact with no holes, though there are areas of fabric thinning and fading, especially in the pink prints. As stated above, there is also no binding, which has for unknown reasons been removed.

The quilt comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It measures 66 inches by 73 inches. Shown on a queen-size bed.
