This beautiful Scrappy String Quilt was made in the 1930s from a wonderful mix of colorful scraps -- pink, blue, black, white along with shirting prints, all of which have been arranged in a diagonal string pattern. It has been entirely hand quilted in black thread in a diamond, diagonals and grid pattern.
The back is tan cotton that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding.
This quilt is in good condition and is almost entirely intact, but is being listed as a cutter quilt due to the shattering/fabric loss/seam separations of some of black fabrics throughout the quilt. See photos. The fabrics also have age-related fading and there is some fraying of the binding.
It is approximately 62 inches by 72 inches. From a smoke-free and pet-free home.
