  • Details
This is a beautiful late 19th-century inlaid sewing box, handcrafted from walnut with contrasting maple and ebonized inlay. The lid features a striking geometric star design surrounded by a personalized marquetry name panel reading “H. FARLEY.” Folk-art personalization like this is rare and highly collectible, giving the box unique character and history.

Inside, the box retains its original divided compartments, including spool holes and small storage sections for notions, thimbles, buttons, and tools. The box opens and closes smoothly, and the interior layout is ideal for sewing, craft storage, or use as a decorative keepsake box.

The walnut veneer shows rich grain and warm patina, consistent with its age. Light age wear and veneer cracks are present, typical of authentic late-Victorian pieces, but the box remains sturdy and displays beautifully. The lock is present but the original key is no longer available.

Whether used as a sewing organizer or displayed as a decorative accent, this piece offers the unmistakable charm of c. 1870–1900 craftsmanship and is a wonderful addition to any antique sewing collection.
