Beautiful early 1900s children’s book published by the famous McLoughlin Brothers of New York. The Royal Eagle Book of Stories features richly colored chromolithograph plates with charming storybook illustrations and classic turn-of-the-century stories. Book shows publisher’s iconic Art Nouveau cover design, printed in deep red cloth with a majestic eagle motif.
This edition includes four full-color plates—“Scalping Poor Dolly,” “Little Tom Tucker Sings for His Supper,” "A Noisy Concert" and “Who Goes There?”—as well as detailed black-and-white interior illustrations. An early owner’s inscription is dated January 23, 1917, adding to its historical character.
Condition: Good antique condition with expected age wear. Cloth cover shows fading at edges and some spotting. Interior spine is exposed but text block remains intact. Pages show mild foxing and several incomplete tears. All color plates present. Please see photos.
