This charming and rarely found type of vintage mid-century baby quilt dates to the late 1940s–1950s and features beautifully printed cherubic baby portrait panels in soft pastel tones. Designed as a crib or toddler quilt, it also works wonderfully as nursery wall décor or display piece.
Each panel shows infants sleeping, smiling, playing peekaboo, daydreaming — printed in warm sepia tones and framed by pastel pink and blue borders. The quilt is finished with a pink and blue prairie-point edge trim, a handmade detail typical of mid-century nursery quilts. The back is blue cotton and the cotton batting is lightweight.
The colors and imagery are classic post-war nursery design, though finished quilts featuring multiple sepia baby portrait panels are rarely encountered, making this a distinctive and hard-to-find example of mid-century nursery design.
