This is a 1930s Depression-era quilt featuring a beautiful Diamond Point Star pattern made from hand-pieced, 1-inch hexagons. The quilt uses classic feed sack and Depression-era cotton prints in soft pastels including mint green, pink, butter yellow, turquoise, lavender, and cream. The diamond star layout is exceptional and unusual.
The quilting is in outlines and sometimes double-outlines of the hexagons, while the three-inch two-sided border is quilted in crosshatches. The back is white cotton while the binding has been formed by turning the front to the back and hand-stitching. The cotton batting is lightweight and unsized.
While most of the quilt remains intact and sturdy, unfortunately due to age and nearly 100 years of use, the quilt has experienced significant fabric loss and thinning including areas that impact both sides (see photos) and is therefore a cutter or crafting quilt.
