This charming 1940s quilt is a variation of the Appliqué Zinnia or Appliqué Posy, which were popular magazine patterns during the Depression and post-war eras. The flowers have "fussy-cut" centers and hand-appliquéd petals along with Nile green calico sashing and a hand-stitched "sawtooth" or "prairie point" border, which is a hallmark 1940s styling.
The hand-quilting is dense and varies from a diagonal grid in the inner body, a modified twisted rope in the sashing and in concentric peaks along the four-sided border. The back is white cotton while the binding is a green cotton floral that has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with no condition issues noted.
