This beautiful 1930s Ohio Star quilt top has unique Nine-Patch centers and has been entirely hand stitched, showcasing classic Depression-era fabrics in navy, black, and soft ivory tones. The deep navy blue ground is scattered with tiny white calico-style sprigs, creating a striking contrast with the black-and-white Ohio Star blocks. Each star is composed of carefully selected small-scale feedsack prints including:
• Black floral calicos • Polka dots • Windowpane checks • Gingham checks • Shirting stripes • 1930s novelty prints (including a charming horseshoe motif) • Soft cream and off-white Depression-era cottons
The top is a quilt top only and has never been quilted, it has no batting and its edges need to be finished.
It is in excellent vintage condition with some age-related toning marks (see photos).
