This vibrant Railroad Around the Rocky Mountains quilt top is a joyful mid-century interpretation of the classic circular rail pattern, dating to approximately the 1940s–1950s.

The bold fuchsia ground sets off dramatic circular “rail” formations made from an extraordinary collection of scrap fabrics. Each ring is composed of carefully pieced wedges in:
• 1940s feed sack florals
• Mid-century stripes and novelty prints
• Small-scale geometric dress fabrics
• Plaids, checks, and textured solids
• Cheerful florals and conversation-style prints

The white rickrack edging around each circular appliqué adds dimension and is very characteristic of mid-20th-century quilt design.

The quilt top is in excellent vintage condition with one small seam separation.
