Antique Ocean Waves Quilt – c. 1930s – Hand Quilted– 77” x 80”

This striking antique Ocean Waves quilt dates to approximately 1935–1945 and is constructed from dramatic black florals with red and yellow blossoms and green foliage are paired with vibrant chrome yellow prints and crisp white cotton. The piecing is precise, with hundreds of half-square triangles forming interlocking waves with yellow pinwheel centers across the surface.

The quilt is entirely hand pieced and hand quilted, with even, consistent quilting stitches throughout in double diagonal grids and - in the open, white patches - in flowers. The solid yellow four-sided border frames the design and is quilted in a diagonal grid.

The back is bright white cotton while the binding is chrome yellow cotton that has been machine stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is lightweight.

This quilt has been soaked and hand washed and is in excellent vintage condition with no condition issues noted.
