This is a beautiful vintage Tulip Basket quilt dating to approximately the 1950s, featuring 20 matching flower baskets arranged in five rows of four against a white cotton background.
Each basket contains three eight-pointed pink flowers with light green leaves and stems, arranged in a dark olive-brown basket. The bright pink and spring green fabrics provide a striking contrast against the white background.
The flowers, leaves, stems, and baskets are hand appliquéd with closely spaced stitching. The quilt is extensively hand quilted, with elaborate feathered wreaths filling the white background between the baskets.
The quilt is finished a double pale yellow border and has a white cotton back that has been turned to the front and handstitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight and thin.
CONDITION: The quilt is in beautiful vintage condition with appliqué and intricate hand quilting remaining clearly defined. The pastel border fabrics show some age-related fading as do several of the pink flowers and dark baskets. Please examine the photographs as they form an important part of the description.
