Scrappy Trip Around the World Quilts like this one from the 1940s are a real testament to the skill and tenacity of their makers. This one, for instance, is made of 1,620 individual 2-inch squares meticulously hand-stitched together in what must have taken hours and hours, then hand-quilted in beautifully straight diagonals with oh-so-tiny stitches. The quilt includes prints including feedsack florals, tiny geometrics, stripes, novelty dots, and sweet calico designs.
The back is cream/off-white cotton while the binding is a light peach color, which has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is lightweight.
The quilt has not only been well made, it has been well preserved and is in excellent vintage condition with no condition issues noted.
