$389.00

  • Details
This striking vintage Cathedral Window Quilt, circa 1950-1960s, has been beautifully handmade in crisp white cotton folded “window frames” that create softly curved arches, revealing luminous chartreuse-green cotton window panes beneath.

Unlike pieced quilts, the Cathedral Window pattern is constructed through an intricate process of folding and hand-stitching layered squares, creating a sculptural effect that resembles the leaded glass windows of Gothic cathedrals. The result is both architectural and elegant, with wonderful texture and depth.

The Cathedral Window technique is very labor-intensive, requiring extensive folding, pressing, and careful hand stitching. Each window frame is individually formed and stitched down, taking great patience and craftsmanship.

The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with no issues noted. The folded window construction remains crisp and well-defined, and the colors remain vibrant.
