This striking and unique Touching Star Quilt, circa 1940s, is rendered in vivid red and green against a cream/off-white ground with embroidered floral blocks in between the stars. The saturated red and green fabrics are classic mid-century cottons, still bright and eye-catching, and paired with a clean cream/off-white background that showcases the piecing and hand-quilting.
Each block is hand pieced with triangles that are just 1-inch, and the quilt is entirely hand quilted following the shapes of the stars and borders. The embroidered blocks feature simple floral vines with hand-stitched blossoms, making the quilt bold and cheerful. There is also an exquisite four-sided red-and-white Flying Geese border.
The back is cream/off-white cotton while the red border fabric has been turned to the back and hand-stitched to form a very narrow binding. This quilt has no batting, making it a summer-weight quilt.
The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with no issues noted. It is structurally sound and sturdy.
