This striking and unique Rising Star Variation Quilt features a beautifully organized medallion layout, a sophisticated variation of the Rising Star pattern set against a rich solid blue field, with the stars radiating outward in a bold and highly graphic design. The fabrics include: • A mix of feedsack florals in soft pastels and cheerful prints • Extensive use of plaids, ginghams, and shirting fabrics, typical of scrap quilts made from repurposed clothing • Bright true reds, chrome yellows, and pastels • Solid blue cotton field
The quilt is entirely hand pieced and is hand quilted in a circular/geometric motif in the open blue blocks and in outlines of the hundreds of diamonds. The back is white cotton as is the binding that has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is lightweight.
CONDITION: The quilt is in excellent vintage condition and is structurally sound with some age-related overall fading. PLEASE NOTE: streaks that may be seen in the photos are from sunlight streaming in the window - not a condition issue.
