This is a beautifully hand embroidered antique floral textile dated 1916, featuring an elaborate basket overflowing with flowers, delicate butterflies, and a graceful swallow carrying the tiny embroidered “1916” date commemorating the year it was made. The workmanship is unusually fine and reflects the elegant romantic aesthetic popular during the late Edwardian era.

This striking piece of embroidery features richly shaded roses, violets, forget-me-nots, carnations, and cottage garden flowers worked in vibrant silk or rayon floss on a luminous ivory satin-like ground.
