This is a beautifully timeworn Antique Double Wedding Ring Quilt dating to the 1920s to 1930s, made in pastel feedsack and floral prints with a scalloped edge. The quilt is entirely hand pieced and hand quilted with lovely overall quilting in outlines of the curved patchwork and in geometric/floral patterns in the open white areas.
The fabrics include lovely early 19th century pinks, lavender florals, pale mint greens, butter yellows, and tiny prints set against an ivory background. The back is white cotton as is the binding that has been machine stitched to the front and hand stitched to the back. The cotton batting is lightweight.
CONDITION: The quilt is sturdy, but has areas of wear, age-related fading, thinning, small holes, scattered fraying, and general age-related wear throughout, all visible in the photographs. Despite the wear, it still displays beautifully and is perfect for cottage, farmhouse, shabby chic, or antique textile decor. It has been soaked, freshly cleaned and line-dried, giving a light natural sun-dried cotton scent (not artificially fragranced).
