This handmade OK Corral Quilt appears to date to the 1990s, likely to around the time that Wyatt Earp and the OK Corral were the subject of several popular movies. The applique includes multiple Western motifs including a central bucking bronco rider, cowboy boot, saddle, horseshoes, a sheriff’s badge, wagon wheel, cactus, lariat rope, and a prominently featured “OK Corral” banner.
The appliqué work is set against a marbled blue background, while dimensional rope borders each section and it is all surrounded by a four-sided fence border. Handmade and very lightly hand-quilted, this quilt reflects the kitschy cowboy aesthetic that was popular in the 1990s.
The backing is a simple cream-colored fabric while the quilt has been knife edge finished and machine stitched closed. It has been soaked, hand-washed and line-dried, giving a light natural sun-dried cotton scent (not artificially fragranced).
CONDITION: The quilt is in excellent vintage condition. Please review all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
