Antique 1940s Lone Star Doll Quilt • Red White & Blue Hand Quilted Miniature Quilt • 26” x 26”

This is an exceptional miniature Lone Star Quilt dating to approximately 1935–1945 and measuring just 26” x 26”. Despite its small size, this is a remarkably detailed little quilt, both in its piecing and its beautiful hand quilting.

The large eight-point Lone Star is constructed from tiny diamonds - 2 inches by 1 inch - in vroyal/cobalt blue and bright red cotton, alternating with white and a charming cream-ground floral printed with tiny red and blue flowers and delicate brown sprigs. A second muted sage/tan floral with tiny red, blue and cream flowers forms the center star, accents the outermost points, and is repeated in the narrow binding.

The individual diamonds of the star are closely outline quilted by hand, while the large white areas surrounding the star contain wonderful feathered hearts and elaborate feather and scroll motifs. The amount of hand quilting incorporated into such a tiny quilt is exceptional.

The back is solid white cotton, while the binding is a floral cotton that has been handstitched to both sides. The cotton batting is lightweight.
