Vintage 1960s–1970s Grandmother’s Flower Garden Quilt – Hand Quilted – 90” x 100”

This is a large, beautiful vintage Grandmother’s Flower Garden Quilt dating to approximately the 1960s or 1970s and made of thousands of cotton hexagons. It has been intricately and expertly hand quilted in feather wreaths and outlines of each of the hexagons.

The hexagons are arranged into multicolored flower blocks. Each flower is surrounded by white hexagons and connected with a soft green hexagon path. The fabrics include a wide assortment of small-scale florals, novelty-style prints, geometric prints and solid cottons in pink, blue, purple, yellow, green, red and other colors characteristic of the period.

The three-sided wide, yellow border is quilted with multiple feathered wreath motifs, providing a distinct contrast to the geometric pattern and hexagon quilting of the center.

The quilt is backed in coordinating solid yellow cotton with a yellow binding that has been machine stitched to the front and handstitched to the back. The batting is lightweight and thin.

Condition
Very good vintage condition with the expected minor signs of age and previous use. The piecing and extensive quilting remain intact, and the colors are strong. Please review all photographs closely for condition and construction details.
