Vintage 1940s Pale Blue Scrappy Hexagon Star Quilt – Hand Pieced & Hand Quilted – 56” x 73”

Wonderful vintage scrappy Hexagon Star quilt dating to approximately the late 1940s, with a colorful mix of period cotton fabrics set against a pale blue background.

The quilt is made up of six-pointed stars pieced from elongated diamond shapes and surrounded by pale blue hexagons. The fabrics include florals, ginghams, plaids, dots, paisleys, novelty prints and bold graphic cottons. Several have the strong colors and designs associated with the late 1940s, while some earlier scraps from the 1930s and early 1940s have also been incorporated.

The quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted with the tiny quilting in a straight-line grid throughout the quilt. The back is pink cotton that has been turned to the front and hand stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is very lightweight and thin.

CONDITION: The quilt is in very good vintage condition with some fraying along the edge of the binding. Please review all photographs closely as they form an important part of the description. The quilt has been soaked, freshly hand washed and line dried, giving it a light, natural, sun-dried cotton scent (not artificially fragranced).
