Superb vintage Bethlehem Star Quilt dating to the 1940s with unique and exquisite hand quilting in dense braided rope variations and geometric patterns as well as in outlines of the more than 1,000 diamonds that make up the Star.
The large central star is composed of hundreds of carefully pieced diamonds in pink strawberry prints, blue strawberry florals, blue-and-white striped fabrics, red calicos, and floral designs. The star radiates outward from a floral center, creating a wonderful combination of color and geometric design.
The back is cream-white cotton while the front green fabric has been turned to the back and hand quilted to form the binding. The cotton batting is thin and lightweight.
CONDITION: The quilt is in excellent vintage condition. Please examine all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
