  • Details
This Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt, circa 1930s, is unusual in that the flower gardens are framed in peach and blue. Made of more than 4,000 hexagons, the hand-quilting outlines each and every hexagon in tiny stitches. The two sides are scalloped following the lines of the flower gardens while the top and bottom are straight across because they have been finished with half-gardens.

The back is a white cotton where the meticulous quilting can best be seen. The fabric from the back has been turned to the front and machine stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.

The quilt is in excellent condition with a binding that shows signs of beginning to fray.

It has been soaked, hand-washed and line-dried and is clean and soft. It measures approximately 72 inches by 80 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Pictured on a queen-size bed.
