This Basket of Tulips Quilt has been machine-appliqued and hand-quilted. The quilting follows the lines of the sashing and is in straight lines through the applique. The tan baskets and flower stems were likely originally green and in any case have definitely faded in color over time.
The back is a tiny black and white floral and geometric print that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent antique condition with one 1/4 inch darker spot near the binding, some small tan spots in the body of the quilt, and the age-related fading of the fabrics, especially the now-tan fabrics. See photos.
The quilt has been soaked, hand-washed, and line-dried and it is clean and soft. It measures 74 inches by 74 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Shown on a queen-size bed.
