This is a joyful and beautifully executed Lucky Star quilt, that is entirely hand-pieced and hand quilted and dates to the 1970s. It is a large, bed-sized quilt made with wonderful period fabrics and charming handwork throughout. Each star block is carefully hand-pieced, showcasing bright 1970s florals, ginghams, polka dots, paisleys, and novelty prints. The hand-quilting is in geometric patterns in the white spaces between the stars and in outlines of the patchwork.
The colors are lively yet balanced, set against a soft white ground. The back is a Creamsicle-pink/peach cotton, as is the binding that has been machine-stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The batting is lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with no issues noted.
