This Signature Quilt was apparently made as a gift by parishioners of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lafayette, Tippecanoe, Indiana to their new pastor in 1928, Henry C. Stolldorf. Someone has meticulously hand-embroidered hundreds of names then hand-quilted in a starburst pattern emanating from the embroidered circles in the middle of each square. The yellow areas are quilted in diagonals and diamonds. It has a four-sided yellow and white border that has been hand-quilted in diagonals.
The back is white cotton as is the binding that has been machine stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent condition with overall fading of the yellow fabric. There is also one small tan spot near one border. See photos.
The quilt has been soaked, hand-washed and line-dried. It is clean and soft and measures 74 inches by 82 inches and is from a smoke-free, pet-free home. Shown on a queen-size bed.
