This very old Drunkard's Path Quilt, circa 1860-1880s; has been densely hand-quilted such that much of the quilt is stipple quilted. The quilt probably started out green and turkey red but over time the green faded to tan, while turkey red was a much more stable dye and has remained largely intact for more than 130 years.
The back is off-white cotton that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched in teeny-tiny stitches to the form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent antique condition with some fabric loss on the front (see photos) and a small - about the size of a dime - spot of fabric loss on the back.
It has been soaked, hand-washed and line dried. It measures 60 inches by 81 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Pictured on a queen-size bed.
