Antique Red & White Hearts and Gizzards Quilt; 1915-1930; hand quilted; 66"x79"

Striking Hearts and Gizzards Quilt, circa 1915-1930, this quilt has been beautifully hand-pieced and hand-quilted. The design combines curved heart-shaped lobes made from solid turkey red and white cottons, with spinning red-and-white pinwheels, highlighting why this is considered one of the most visually captivating patterns in early American quilting. The hand-quilting is dense and even and in patterns of diamonds and shells.

The back is white cotton as is the binding that has been machine stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is very lightweight.

The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with the expected age patina but no structural issues.

It is clean and soft and measures 66 inches by 79 inches. From a smoke-free, pet-free home. Shown on a queen-size bed.
