This striking 1950s-1960s vintage Ohio Amish Lone Star quilt is a beautifully executed example of traditional Amish craftsmanship combined with a bold, mid-century color palette. Hand-pieced and hand-quilted, this quilt features the classic Lone Star (Star of Bethlehem) pattern rendered in vivid solids that radiate from a soft neutral ground.
The dynamic star radiates from shades of turquoise, teal, royal blue, coral, lavender, and gray. The background is finished with hand-quilted fan and cross-hatch stitching, while the open blocks are quilted in a feather-wreath variation and the border is a twisted rope pattern. All quilting is in black thread.
The back is navy blue cotton while the binding is a lavender cotton that has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with several areas of light thread loss in the hand-quilting consistent with age and gentle use. See photos.
