  • Details
This exceptional mid-19th century American quilt features the highly sought-after Thousand Pyramids pattern, meticulously hand-pieced from more than a thousand miniature triangles. Dating to circa 1850–1870, the quilt is constructed from indigo shirtings, madder reds, early browns, tans, stripes, and small geometrics. Each triangle intersection is secured with traditional knotted construction, a hallmark of early quilt-making.

The back is made from two original 19th-century printed cotton backing fabrics while the back fabric has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is unsized and medium weight.

The quilt is in excellent antique condition with some overall fading of the fabrics.

Measuring 72 inches by 78 inches, the quilt comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Pictured on a queen-size bed.
