This exceptional antique quilt features the Autumn Leaf pattern, a classic early 20th-century design that here has been executed in striking double pinks and white.
Each Autumn Leaf block is crisply pieced with strong points set against a clean white ground. The quilt is finished with a four-sided double sawtooth border (with the outer border in dark lavender) while the quilting is entirely hand stitched, worked in a dense cross-hatch grid in even, tiny stitches.
The back is white cotton while the front and the back fabrics have been turned inward and hand-stitched to form a self-finished edge that takes the place of binding. The unsized cotton batting is lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent antique condition, with some color transfer along the lavender border and a dark discoloration the size of a dime on one "tooth" of the same border.
