This extraordinary Touching Stars Quilt is a lovely example of early 20th-century quilt-making. Hand pieced and hand quilted, the stars are composed of vibrant red, navy, and warm tan prints. The cream/white open blocks are filled with exquisite feather wreaths along with floral motifs and concentric hearts at the corners. The two-sided cream and red/pink striped border is quilted in a straight-line grid.

The back is an original vintage feed sack backing, complete with visible printed lettering indicating it comes from Fort Madison, Iowa on the banks of the Mississippi River. The binding is a navy blue and white floral print that has been machine stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is very lightweight.

The quilt is in excellent antique condition with three very tiny tan/rusty colored dots near one border - see photos. Please note that the marks on the back of this quilt are of Feedsack prints from the backing/feedsack and are not a condition issue.
